![]() I have had experience with Tropical Girdle Tail Lizards/Forest armadillo lizards, Cordylus jonesi, but they are quite basic (and the other species or the genus are probably much harder to keep). By no means am I an expert on these lizards. Just thought that this would clear up some identification issues. Captive bred individuals are extremely rare due to their low reproductive rate. In 2007, larger numbers were imported and the price rose to 200 per pair or higher. From 2001-2005, they were rarely imported and cost around 65-80 each online. Next are some other members of the genus:Ĭordylus Mossambicus, the flame/red-bellied armadillo lizard are seem occassionally.Īnd finally the "sungazer", Cordylus giganteus (I believe one of the largest of the genus). Flame-bellied Armadillo Lizards are only available as wild caught (WC) individuals. I believe that are are not overly difficult to breed (Livebirth, also), but they are mainly still imported in large numbers. ![]() There are the Tropical Girdle Tail Lizards/Forest armadillo lizards,Ĭordylus jonesi, (which Kevin discussed above), which many call armadillo lizards. Unfortunately many species are mis-identified, and sold incorrectly. It would be greatly benefical if you found the latin/scientific name of the "armadillo lizard" you are searching for.
